French (français) is a Romance language originating from the France, but spoken in many other parts of the Europe, including the south of Belgium (Wallonia and Brussels), west of Switzerland, Monaco and Luxembourg. At North America, French is mainly spoken in Quebec and New Brunswick, but is present in almost all other provinces of the Canada. Although Canada is a bilingual country, French is spoken by a minority of citizens in all other provinces and territories. French is also found in some parts of the U.S, mainly in the state of Louisiana and in the northern part of the states of Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. Other French-speaking countries include former French colonies in North Africa and Western Africa, in Haiti, Martinique, Guadeloupe and Saint Bartholomew in the Caribbean, in the French Guiana at South America, in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia at the Southeast Asia, in Tahiti and on Oceania. It has been the language of international diplomacy and communication, and although it has been largely supplanted by English since World War II, it remains de rigueur (mandatory requirement) for people educated in many societies around the world to have some level of basic French ability. It is also one of the official languages of the UN and the EU.

Vowels

A, E, I, O and U are the vowels. They are pronounced as in Portuguese, except the:
