Hasle is a small place on the west coast of Bornholm.

background

Hasle beach

Hasle is a small port town on the west coast of Bornholm, only about 10 km north of the capital Rønne. The place stretches up from the harbor basin on the increasingly steep coast and marks the transition of the long stretch of sandy coastline, which extends south over Rønne to Dueodde and the rapidly rising cliff coast to the north, which has one of its greatest attractions in Jons Kapell and which joins up to Hammerknuden Sandvig extends.

Outside of the high season - the Danish summer holidays - Hasle is a very tranquil place where you hardly ever come across any large gatherings of people apart from the smokehouse.

Choosing Hasle as a holiday home means living in a much quieter environment than in the tourist strongholds around Allinge and Sandvig, Gudhjem or Nexø to Dueodde. With the renovations on the harbor basin, which now appears as an originally designed natural bathing establishment next to the marina, Grønbechs Gaard as the seat of numerous well-known artists and artisans, and with the smokehouse, Hasle shows itself as a holiday resort between tradition and tourist attractiveness, without losing the original character of a fishing village to have.

By bicycle

The Danish national route 10, the Bornholm Rundt, runs through Hasle. Cyclists reach their Hasle on a quiet, well-signposted cycle path through the forest from Rønne (11 km).

The path then continues on partly very hilly terrain through the forest Sandvig (14 km), including Jons Kapell and the fortress Hammershus happens. Shortly after Teglkås you have to tackle a short but very steep section. Untrained cyclists, cyclists with trailers or a lot of luggage and children who cycle independently will need help pushing their bikes here. See also directions in Bike tour wiki (with GPS track).

On foot

On the Kyststi, the coastal footpath around Bornholm, can also be reached through Hasle. This hiking trail is the old sea rescue route, on which the rescuers rushed to the aid of a ship in distress, in which they only approached the hair spot as far as possible by land. Only then did they launch the small boats to rush to help, which often enough remained very dangerous.

To the north of Hasle, the Kyststi follows one of the most dangerous routes that the rescuers had to tackle at the time. Here the steep coast suddenly rises sharply, and the sea is and was often particularly rough around the northern tip of Bornholm, even in earlier times.

mobility

Hasle should be easy to explore on foot for most people, but due to the hillside location of the place you have to climb a few meters from the harbor.

trips

Jon's Kapel

For motorized holidaymakers, (almost) every destination on the island can be reached from Hasle in a relatively short time. In the immediate vicinity, however, the following excursion destinations are also available for cyclists and hikers:

  • Rønne. There is also a beautiful cycle path through the forest to the island's capital, which is only a few kilometers away.
Hammershus
  • on the coastal hiking and cycling path to the north, past the places consisting of only a few houses Helligpeder and Teglkås to Jon's Kapel, with a steep climb (cyclists have to push) directly behind Teglkås. Jon's Kapel is an unusually shaped rock at the bottom of the cliff, to which a long, steep wooden staircase, which is slippery when it rains, descends. Above Jons Kapel is a kiosk where you can fortify yourself after successfully relegating and advancing. The kiosk can be reached by car, parking spaces are available, but you can also walk a few 100 m from the kiosk to the cliff. The path and especially the stairs are not suitable for people with walking difficulties, you should also have a basic level of fitness.
  • Cyclists (or trained hikers) can continue to follow the cycle path after Jons Kapel, it leads through the nature reserve Ringbak cores, past some former quarries until after Vang, a small port town. From Vang it is almost only a stone's throw (albeit quite hilly) through that for cyclists Finnedalen and Slottslyngen to the castle ruins Hammershus.
  • Klemensker. With the Klemensker Kirke.
