The Heiligkreuzgebirge(Polish: Góry Świętokrzyskie) is a mountain range in the southeast Poland. The region is part of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship and borders in the south and east on the Vistula Valley, in the north on the Polish Plain and in the west on the Polish Jura.

Holy Cross Mountains - Łysa Góra

The stony Łysa Góra is the highest mountain at approx. 612 m and was already considered a meeting place for dark forces in pagan times. In the Middle Ages, that was on the summit Holy Cross Monastery founded to put an end to the ghost. The Heiligkreuzgebirge is one of the oldest in the world. It is through the Heiligkreuz National Park protected. The Tropstein Cave Raj is considered one of the most beautiful in Poland. Numerous hiking trails open up the Heiligkreuz Mountains. The area is well developed for tourism. You can arrive via Katowice or Krakow. The largest traffic junction is Kielce.

There is a dense network of hiking trails. Buses go to all villages in the mountains. There are also rail connections, but the rail network is not as dense as the bus network. Of course, you are most flexible with your own mobile pedestal.
