Hemer is a city in the north of the Sauerlands in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Hemer is east of the Ruhr area in the northern Sauerland. It belongs to the Märkischer Kreis, whose seat is in Ludenscheid lies. Neighboring cities are Iserlohn in the West, Menden (Sauerland) in the North, Balve in the east as well Neuenrade and Altena in the south. Hemer became known nationwide by hosting the State Horticultural Show 2010 in the new Sauerland Park.
