Further Districts of the political community Herrsching are Breitbrunn, Wartaweil and Widdersberg.

The Artist colony in and around Herrsching emerged from the period around 1900, when the artists from the nearby cities Munich and augsburg discovered the Ammersee. as a motif. The "Bauernsee" became the summer resort and also the permanent residence for painters, musicians and poets.

The tourism, the most important branch of business in the village, arose from the 19th century with the construction of the railway line to Munich, the beginning of shipping on the Ammersee and the artist colony.

  • Martinskirche, first mentioned in 1065 and one of the landmarks of Herrsching.
  • Kurparkschlösschen on the Herrsching lake shore; the romantic castle was built from 1888 as the summer residence of the Munich-based painter Ludwig Scheuermann. The building is another landmark in Herrsching. Today it is the seat of the registry office and the venue of the Cultural association (see web links) and is used for representative purposes.
  • Aristocratic Church and Archaeological Park near the cemetery, Mitterweg 22. During an excavation in 1982, the remains of a church and several burials from the 7th century AD were found. The graves of a noble Bavarian family were extraordinarily richly furnished. Among other things, traces of a garment interwoven with gold and a belt set made of gold-plated silver were found. The originals are now in the Archaeological State Collection in Munich. The aristocratic church, one of the earliest stone churches in southern Germany, was reconstructed on the historical foundation in 1996. Later excavations also found the remains of a Roman villa rustica with a bathing building. In the Adelskirche an exhibition shows the life-size figure of a Bavarian warrior, replicas of his sumptuous gifts and original Roman finds from Herrsching. In the small park the graves are provided with information boards. The Association for Archeology and History Herrsching e.V. looks after the park and the exhibition on a voluntary basis (more information at: Herrschinger associations).

A cistern and some hollows, presumably earlier cellars, have also been preserved on the site of the earlier church.
