Hornbach

Hornbach is a small town in the southwest of the Palatinate, it belongs to the community of Zweibrücken-Land. North of Hornbach lies Zweibrücken, in the west it borders Blieskastel in the Saarland, to the south is the arrondissement Sarreguemines. Geographically, Hornbach belongs to the Westrich

The wandering monk founded around the year 742 Pirminius a Benedictine monastery. After his death in 753 he was venerated as a saint. The monastery became the destination of numerous pilgrims, outside of its walls the village of Hornbach arose, which had been surrounded by a wall since 1237 and received city rights in 1352. In 1557 the monastery was abandoned.

The next train station is in Zweibrücken. The Bahnhofstrasse reminiscent of the former Hornbachbahn, however, it has largely been dismantled.
