Map of Ismaning

background

The community is 12 km north of the Munich City center conveniently located on the right high bank of the Isar. It has only been part of Bavaria since 1803, before that it had been part of the Hochstifts Freising, a small spiritual territory of the Freising bishops, seat of a bailiff and court. Since 1319 it belonged to the Freising County on the Isarrain, the administrative center of which it was.

In the southern part of the village, a Media center built in which, together with the media buildings of the neighboring community Unterföhring, numerous private broadcasters have their headquarters and their production facilities.

For a municipality without a traditional tourist orientation, Ismaning has an unusually high number of accommodation establishments and overnight stays by guests. (Wikipedia)

getting there

By plane

  • From Munich Airport with the S-Bahn line 8 (caution! not with the S 1) in the direction of Ostbahnhof. Ismaning is the third stop after the airport. The S-Bahn runs every 20 minutes.

By train

The Munich S-Bahn line 8 runs in 22 minutes from the city center (Marienplatz) to Ismaning (towards the airport). Train travelers from the direction Stuttgart Because of the shorter transfer routes and less crowding, it is better to change trains in Pasing (most ICE trains stop there) and not at the main train station.

By bus

Ismaning belongs to the field of Munich Transport Association MVV and is well connected.

By boat

Ismaning is located on the Isar, but it is just as difficult to navigate here as the Isar Canal.

In the street

From the autobahn A9 out Berlin and Nuremberg preferably via the Garching-Süd exit and then via the main road B471, from the highway A8 (West branch) over the Eschenrieder Spange and the north branch of the motorway ring A99 to the München-Nord junction, exit in the direction of Nuremberg and then take the A9 motorway at the exit Garching-South leave, continue over that B471 eastward. From Salzburg and Innsbruck die A8 (East branch) at Kreuz Brunntal and via the eastern motorway ring to the Aschheim exit, there on the B471which passes Ismaning after a few kilometers. Coming from Garmisch-Partenkirchen briefly onto the Münchner Mittlerer Ring, then onto the motorway in the direction of Lindau (A94), continue at the Kreuz München-Südwest onto the motorway ring A99 to the München-Nord junction and then continue as if coming from Stuttgart. The Munich motorway ring road is sometimes at risk of congestion, but the inner-city roads in Munich are seldom better.
