Worth seeing

  • In Jaworzynka it is worth visiting the church of st. Peter and Paul (Jaworzynka Centrum 420), from 1953-1954. In the main altar there is a painting by Jan Wałach with the patrons of the church depicted against the background of a mountain panorama. In addition, the residents also meet in the church in Trzycatek. Our Lady of Frydek, where a wooden church used to stand, was, however, moved to Mlaskawka, to the hamlet of Istebna.
  • The best spruces. In 1938, as a result of research by Swedish scientists, the species of Istebian spruce was recognized as the healthiest, fastest-growing and most beautiful. Istebna spruces are used, among others as a resonance material for the manufacture of violin instruments.
  • Few people know that there is also a museum in which the most valuable exhibits are trees. Of course, we are talking about the best trees in the world - Istebna spruces. In the Museum of Istebnia Spruce (Jaworzynka Wyrchczadeczka, tel. 33 8556313, open after prior telephone reservation, free admission) there is the Spruce Istebniański Gene Bank, where spruce seeds can be stored for decades.
  • Aviary Breeding of the capercaillie, which was launched in 2002. The conducted research showed that there is a risk of extinction of this species in the Beskid forests, therefore 15 eggs were imported from Belarus and breeding started.
  • Jerzy Rucki also founded the "Na Grapie" Regional Museum (Jaworzynka 720, the hamlet of Gorzołki, visiting dates to be agreed at tel. 33 8556520, http://www.nagrapie.beskidy.pl/muzeum-na-grapie), where you can watch, among others the interior of the hut, with a stone table, folk costumes, musical instruments and home appliances. In a nearby barn there are dryers, chaff-cutters and other equipment.

You can relax in the agritourism farm run in the "Na Grapie" museum.
