Relocation in Copenhagen

Copenhagen S-train network
By bus

Well-functioning bus network, however, it is difficult to get an overview of the lines in a short time, but at the bus stop you can always see which stations the bus passes by. Some buses have a system that announces with writing and exclamation which station you are approaching.

By train

S-train is similar to Stockholm's Commuter Train, but has several departures - runs every 10 minutes on all lines for most of the day, and every 20 minutes in the evening. The core of the system in the inner city, between Copenhagen Central and Svanemøllen stations has departures approximately every 2 minutes.

Metro is Copenhagen's new metro, two lines run between Frederiksberg and the island of Amager, with regard to the airport and Ørestad where you can change to Öresund traffic. Change to S-train can be done on Nørreport station.

With car

Occasionally a lot of traffic, difficult to find parking space.

By taxi

Relatively expensive, difficult to get hold of late nights and other high-intensity periods.

With bike

Bicycles are Copenhagen's best means of transport because the city is completely flat and has a well-developed bicycle road network. City bicycles are available for rent for SEK 20, are located everywhere in the city. But do not make too big plans with these bikes because they are quite small and uncomfortable to ride, and also often in poor condition.

Payment

The simplest is that on e.g. Central Station buy a "cut card" or a three- or seven-day ticket that is valid for unlimited travel in the meantime. Remember that you as a traveler are responsible for it being stamped correctly on the card!

Acceptable currencies

Danish kroner is the primary currency, but several restaurants and attractions with a lot of tourists, e.g. Amusement park and Nyhavn also accepts Swedish kronor and Euro.

Traveler's checks

Traveler's checks can be exchanged at large banks, such as Nordea and Danske Bank.

Charge card

In some places they only accept the Danish debit card Dankort and cash. Many places charge a fixed fee or up to 5% of the amount on foreign card purchases.

ATMs

There are many ATMs in Copenhagen, and they work well.

Absolutely not to be missed

The fantastic youthful district Vesterbro. If you follow Vesterbrogade or Istedgade a bit up, away from Copenhagen Central Station, you come to an area with a lot of nice cafes and bars where most people have the opportunity to find their favorite. Cheap beer, luxurious Vietnamese or affordable French rustic.

Christianshavn in the summer. This district was built with inspiration from Amsterdam. The canals and the surrounding cafés and boats offer a fantastically relaxing environment. This is the district where all avant-garde Copenhageners want to live. 15 min. bike ride from there is Amagerstrandpark, the artificial expansive sandy beach with jumping towers, ice cream parlors and outdoor gym. This is a must on hot summer days. Christiania is also located in this district.
