El-Kauthar, Arabic:الكوثر, al-Kauthar / al-Kawthar, or Haiy el-Kauthar, حي الكوثر, Ḥaiy al-Kauthar, „Al-Kauthar settlement“Is is a modern industrial area in the central egyptianGovernorateSōhāg immediately southeast of the village 1 es-Salāmūnī and northeast of Achmīm. In the southwest of the settlement there are three historical monasteries, the one being the monastery Deir esch-Schuhadāʾ, Martyrs' Monastery, which is the oldest and most famous.
