background

location

Kirchdorf am Wilden Kaiser is located in the middle of the Kitzbühel Alps. The place at 640 meters above sea level has about 2600 inhabitants, managed alpine pastures, the climbing paradise Wilder Kaiser, the legendary Teufelsgasse, comfortable hiking trails, the memorial chapel and the original mountain pine distillery are among the attractions.

Lower Inn Valley farms, alpine meadows and hiking trails shape the image of Kirchdorf. Whether spring, summer or autumn - the excursions into the world of the two thousand meter peaks of the Kaiser Mountains begin at 640 meters above sea level. From the district of Gasteig one of the hikes leads through the natural paradise Kaiserbachtal over the Griesener Alm to the Stripsenjochhaus (1577 meters) and on the Feldberg (1813 meters). The path through “Teufelsgasse” is shrouded in legend, and a visit to one of the most original mountain pine distilleries in Tyrol is relieving for the respiratory tract. For many centuries, Kirchdorf (2000 inhabitants) has retained the charm of a typical Tyrolean farming village - and relies on hospitality with tradition. In summer, riders and cyclists come on tours for all demands, strollers enjoy the stroll along the renatured Ache. During the white weeks of the year, Kirchdorf has specialized in the beginners with its well-arranged in-house ski area. On the gentle slope, young and old skiers can quickly make their first turns, before heading to the ski areas of the Schneewinkel, which can be reached quickly after a few days: with St. Johann in Tirol, Waidring, St. Ulrich am Pillersee and Fieberbrunn, well-known slopes are right in front of the Front door. Those who prefer to leave two tracks in the snow have a connection to one of Tyrol's cross-country skiing areas: fans of Nordic sports can find 275 kilometers of trails. Romantics can be pulled through the natural paradise in a horse-drawn sleigh - and enjoy the end of the excursion with a steaming mulled wine in a hut or in an inn. It gets cold and hot for visitors to the Kaiserquell wellness oasis: in summer, an outdoor pool cools off, in winter the sauna landscape provides a pleasant end to a beautiful day of skiing.
