Lichtenau (Baden) is a small town in the Ortenau.

The town of Lichtenau is located on the Upper Rhine. It was founded at the end of the 13th century under the protection of a moated castle and was the royal seat of the city for several years Counts of Hanau-Lichtenberg and the northernmost fortress of the Hanauerland. After the fortress was razed, the city became Hessian property before being part of Baden in 1803. Today the former parishes belong to Lichtenau Grauelsbaum, Muckenschopf, Scherzheim and Ulm.
