getting there

Lommatzsch is dependent on the major routes in terms of traffic, even if the federal highway 6 is northeast of the city MeissenOschatz leads along. The next motorway junction is Chub-East on the A 14, 16 km away. If you are traveling on the A 14 from Leipzig, take the B 175 down here and leave it in Theeschütz. If you come from Dresden, you leave at the exit Nossen East take the Autobahn and take the B 101 towards Meißen. Behind Katzenberg (attention: speed cameras) it goes left. The road that follows has been expanded over the past few years, so things are moving very quickly here. Lommatzsch itself is currently receiving a bypass.

Lommatzsch no longer has a railway connection, and the bus connections are rather bad than good.

trips

  • Ostrau (14 km to the west) - a village situated in the Jahna valley, a tributary of the Elbe; Trinity Church.
  • Meissen (15 km southeast) - the first European porcelain was produced in the tourist town of Meißen on the Elbe.
  • Riesa (15 km north, S 85 to the B 6, from Seerhausen B 169) - the next larger town next to Meißen, located on the Elbe, stands above all for sport and steel. After turning onto the B 6, you will find a free petrol station in Mehltheuer, which is usually 4 cents below the normal price. Before turning onto the B 169 near Seerhausen, there is another dangerous speed camera - only a few meters beforehand, Tempo 50 is announced!
  • Chub (17 km southwest) - the largest city in the Central Saxon hill country; Venue of the Central Saxon Theater.
  • Nossen (20 km south, S 85 to B 101) - the former Benedectine monastery Altzella is located near the town of Nossen, which lies between the motorways 4 and 14. The S 85 is very well developed, after switching to the B 101, watch out for the stationary speed camera in Katzenberg. An alternative route leads via Leuben, where the village church is located on a high rock. To do this, first drive down the street in the direction of Döbeln and then turn left according to the signpost. Behind a curve is a small parking lot, from which you have a beautiful view of the landscape equipped with wind turbines.
