The town Oschatz lies in the northwest of the Lommatzian care. To the north lies the Dahlen Heath and west of the Wermsdorf Forest. Oschatz was founded under Emperor Otto the Great next to the castle built here by King Heinrich I and came to the Saxon Albertinian line through the division of the country in 1485, which it then remained with.

There is one made up of two lines City bus transport. Oschatz is in the tariff zone of the Central German Transport Association (MDV), Tariff zone 127. - the Neumarkt with the old market fountain from the late 16th century.
- the town hall with the striking clock tower on the west side of Neumarkt. After a city fire in 1842, it was rebuilt in the Renaissance style by Gottfried Semper. During guided tours you can visit the historic council chamber from 1595.
- the 1 St. Aegidien Church. The first building dates back to the 11th century. In its current form with the two 75 m high towers, it was built in the middle of the 19th century. It has been completely restored in recent years. The chancel with the altar is adorned with artistic stained glass, and the large organ on the gallery at the rear is also noteworthy. The tower keeper's apartment, which was previously inhabited, can be reached via 199 steps. It is open Tues-Fri from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sat from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- the Savings bank at Neumarkt. The Renaissance building served as the market building for the butchers, and later as the military headquarters
