The town Oschatz lies in the northwest of the Lommatzian care. To the north lies the Dahlen Heath and west of the Wermsdorf Forest. Oschatz was founded under Emperor Otto the Great next to the castle built here by King Heinrich I and came to the Saxon Albertinian line through the division of the country in 1485, which it then remained with.
