getting there
By train
The most important and at the same time the only railway lines in the region that are still operated by passenger traffic Leipzig–Dresden (Hold in Kühren, Dahlen, Oschatz) and Leipzig–cottbus (Hold Doberschütz, Mockrehna, Torgau, Beilrode).
From Leipzig it takes between 23 minutes (Kühren) and an hour (Beilrode), from Dresden to Dahlen the journey takes a little more than an hour. From Berlin to Dahlen you need two hours with a change in Leipzig, to Bad Düben about 2:20 hours. Without the long-distance traffic surcharge, you can take the RE via Falkenberg in 2:40 hours to Torgau.
By bus
The “PlusBus” line 196 runs every hour from Leipzig to Bad Düben on weekdays, seven buses run in each direction on Saturdays and five on Sundays. The journey takes a good three quarters of an hour. The bus also stops at the Red House near Brösen, an excursion restaurant in the middle of the heather.
In the street
There are no motorways through the area itself, but to the south the A 14 connects the greater Halle / Leipzig area with Dresden. For the journey to Wermsdorf or Dahlen you can use the junction Mutzschen to use. If you don't take the autobahn, you either use the B 6 via Wurzen or the B 87 via from Leipzig Diving and Eilenburg, whereby Eilenburg can be bypassed via a bypass. Most destinations in this region can be reached from Leipzig in under an hour, from Dresden in one to 1½ hours.
From the Berlin area you can take the B 101 (towards Luckenwalde) to Herzberg and then the B 87 towards Torgau in this region. For example, it is 135 kilometers from Berlin to Torgau, which takes an average of two hours to drive. A few kilometers further, but under certain circumstances slightly faster, is the connection via the A 13 to the Duben exit and then continue on the B 87 via Luckau towards Torgau. If the destination is in the Dübener Heide, you can instead take the A 9 to the Dessau-Ost approach, from which the B 107 leads to travelers Bad Düben brings (160 km / 2 hours).
