Mössingen lies at the foot of the Swabian Alb.

The city of Mössingen describes itself as the "city of flowers". Summer flowers have been sown on its green spaces and roadsides since 1992, which brought the city a gold medal in the national competition in 2001 Entente Florale.
Mössingen was first mentioned in a document in 765. In 1344 the place came under the rule of the Counts of Zollern. Mössingen has belonged to Württemberg since 1441.
In 1933 it came to Mössingen Mössinger general strike against the imminent seizure of power by Hitler.
After the Second World War, the satellite town of Bästenhardt came into being. As part of a community reform in 1971, the communities Talheim and Öschingen were incorporated, other districts are Belsen and Bad Sebastiansweiler.
Neighboring places are Nehren, Gomaringen, Reutlingen, Sonnenbühl, Burladingen, Hechingen, Bodelshausen and Ofter things.
