The route on Main-Danube Canal is not an official long-distance cycle route. The tour is ideally suited as a connection from the Main to the Danube.

- Length: 138 km (Bamberg - Dietfurt) from Bamberg to Kelheim is about 180 km.
- Signposting: no continuous signposting. At the Altmühl long-distance cycle signpost; but you can rarely get lost because you always follow the canal.
- Slopes: almost no; There are only climbs at the locks (approx. 10-20 meters in altitude each)
- Path condition: gravel paths on the canal
- Traffic load: largely free of traffic
- Suitable bike: Best touring bike, but everyday bike is also sufficient
- Family suitability: yes, ideal family route, as largely traffic-free and flat
- Inline suitability: no, there are gravel roads
