The Seto Inland Sea is the body of water separating the islands of Honshū, Shikoku and Kyushu, three of the four main islands of Japan.

On a boat

The boat is the natural way to travel there. There are many services, most of them over short distances; more details on the page of each destination.

By car

After spending 500 billion for its construction, the Seto Inland Sea is now crossed by no less than 3 stupendously huge bridges. From east to west:

• the Akashi Kaikyō Bridge, with the longest center span in the world (1 191 m), Between Akashi (off Kobe, Honsho) and Awaji ;
• the Seto-Ohashi bridge, a set of six bridges connecting Okayama (Honshū) to Kagawa (Shikoku);
• the Shimanami Kaidō bridge, of Hiroshima (Honshō) to Ehime (Shikoku)

By train

The only rail link crossing the Inland Sea is through the Seto-Ohashi Bridge, running from Okayama To Takamatsu then continuing after that. Services are fast and frequent, although no Shinkansen trains pass there.
