Geographical notes
The town is located at the end of the Pordenone Po Valley between the Cellina stream, Mount Fara and Mount Spia.
Background
Montereale Valcellina is today a small town, but its origins are very ancient. The finds from the Bronze Age and the Early Iron Age found in the area of the Paleovenetian necropolis of Dominu confirm the antiquity of human settlement up to the fourteenth century BC. Furthermore, the numerous and noteworthy finds from the imperial and late Roman age attest to a certain importance of the entire area.
In Montereale Valcellina the story is linked to the legend: Pliny, in his work entitled Naturalis historia, speaks of some cities of the Regio X Venetia et Histria and among these he cites the unobtainable city of Caelina.

On the train
- Railway station The station is on the railway line Sacile - Pinzano. From July 2012 to December 9, 2017 the railway service was replaced by self-rides; from 10 December 2017 the service in the station has resumed, thanks to the partial reopening of the railway, between Sacile is Maniago.
By bus
- Atap spa bus lines 14 and 32 connect Montereale Valcellina directly with Pordenone with two pairs of rides per day. The runs of line 13 end the route, passing through Aviano, to Maniago.
