THE The Cardamomi and Dâmrei mountains (elephant mountains) is a region that includes the provinces of Battambang, Koh Kong, Pursat, Kampong Speu (or Kampong Spoe), Kampot, Kep, Pailin is Sihanoukville. It is one of the least developed regions in the country; the mountain area has poor infrastructure and still has many unexploded mines. The coastal area around Sihanoukville is more developed for tourism although it remains largely unspoiled and offers quiet beaches.

How to get
By car
The region is connected to Phnom Penh by 3 asphalted roads:
- National Highway 5, from Phnom Penh, Street Battambang to Poipet
- National Highway 3, from Phnom Penh to Kampot
- National Highway 4, from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville
Connected with Thailand with 2 asphalted roads:
- National Highway 57, from the border Ban Pakard/Pailin to Battambang
- National Highway 48, from the cofnine Trat/Koh Kong joins National Highway 4 north of Sihanoukville.
Reaching the mountainous region from Koh Kong it is possible but it represents more of an adventure than a connection with the means of transport. Difficult conditions are to be expected, even for an enduro bike.
