Morino is a city of Marsica, subregion ofAbruzzo.

The Guided nature reserve Zompo lo Schioppo, a protected area established in 1987. The town is part of the network of Authentic Italian Villages.
Geographical notes
The new town, rebuilt after the 1915 earthquake, is located along the valley of the Liri river, on the left bank of the Roveto Valley. It develops on the slopes of the Ernici mountain range. It is about 22 kilometers from Avezzano and 25 from Sora. In the municipal area there are four hamlets: Brecciose, Grancia, Morino Vecchio and Rendinara.
When to go
Summer is the best time to visit Morino and the Zompo lo Schioppo reserve. Those wishing to observe the waterfall of the same name in full flow of water, on the other hand, visit these places in the autumn or winter.
Background
Before the Avezzano earthquake of 1915, the characteristic village stood on a hill in an elevated position with respect to the current town. Completely destroyed by the earthquake, it was decided to rebuild the new town in another more favorable position and further downstream, close to the communication routes. In the ancient village few houses were rebuilt and subsequently abandoned.

Morino is connected with Avezzano and the branch of the A25 motorway Rome-Pescara, from which it is about 20 kilometers and the neighboring one Sora through the State Road 690 known as the "Superstrada del Liri". Another important road artery is the Strada Statale 82 of the Liri Valley.
On the train
The national network of Trenitalia manages the railway lines Rome-Avezzano-Sulmona-Pescara and the Avezzano line-Roccasecca which connects the Marsica with Sora and Cassino. The municipality of Morino is served by the stations of Civita d'Antino-Morino and Morrea-Castronovo-Rendinara, the latter located in Le Rosce-Santa Restituta, serving the hamlet of Rendinara.

There Guided nature reserve Zompo lo Schioppo falls completely within the municipal territory of Morino. The protected area was established with the Regional Law No. 24 of 29 May 1987. The reserve takes its name from the natural waterfall (in Italian "leap of the shot"), one of the highest in the Apennines. The water flows from a steep limestone wall for a jump of over 80 meters. There are numerous and varied itineraries and equipped areas in the mountain park. In the area there is the ancient hermitage of the Madonna del Caùto located at about 1000 meters above sea level.

The wide eastern avenue that leads to the remains of the Cerrito gate, the only gateway to the town, offers a privileged panoramic view.
