The city Mühlberg is located on the east bank of the Elbe in the extreme south of the state of Brandenburg. Mühlberg is historically famous for the victory of Emperor Charles V over Johann Friedrich the Magnanimous on April 24, 1547, which ended the Schmalkaldic War.
getting there
Mühlberg is located on the right bank of the river approximately in the middle between Riesa and Torgau and can be reached via the B 182 and the Elbe bridge, which has existed since 2008.
Mühlberg no longer has a regular rail connection. If you arrive by bike, ideally use the Elbe cycle path.

- 1 Marienstern Monastery. The Cistercian convent was abandoned in the 16th century as part of the Reformation, but there are more recent efforts to revive it. The former monastery church, a single-nave, Gothic brick building with Romanesque elements, was restored as a parish church after a fire in 1565. Next to the monastery is the Provost officewhich has housed the city museum since 1926. On the old market square in front of the monastery some other historical buildings, including the city pharmacy. In the eastern part of the city center, the former is particularly impressive
The lock in contrast to the other buildings on the northern edge of the city is currently still in a pitiful condition. It was a hunting lodge from 1545, but the first mention of it comes from the 13th century. On the Schlossplatz there is a memorial from 1949 to commemorate the anti-fascist resistance.
You can find this in the western part of the city center town hall with information boards and, to the left, the 2 woman Church. Behind the town hall and the church it goes to the old Elbe with harbor. There is a memorial there that commemorates the floods in 2002, from which the city was saved.
About 4 km to the northeast is the memorial for the victims of the prisoner-of-war camp Stalag IV B and the special camp No. 1 Mühlberg that followed after 1945.
