The Gorce National Park(Polish: Gorczański Park Narodowy) is a national park in Poland. It is located in the southern part Lesser Poland, in the mountain range de Gorce, a part of the Beskydy Mountains.

The park was designated as early as 1981.

landscape

The national park is 70.30 km², includes the highest regions of the Gorce around the summit of the Turbacz.

Flora and fauna

It is home to primeval forests where bears, wolves and lynx still live, as well as many species of birds. Deer, dormouse, dormouse and garden dormouse are also represented in large numbers. The symbol of the national park is the fire salamander, which is also common.

The weather in the nature park can be very changeable, especially at higher altitudes, with sudden drops in temperature, quickly rising fog and unexpected showers.

getting there

Buses go from Krakow to Poreba Wielkawhere the administrative headquarters of the national park are located. You can also access the national park from Mszana Dolna, Rabka-Zdrój, Niedźwiedź, Kamienica, Ochotnica Dolna, Łopuszna, Czorsztyn and Nowy Targ explore where there are numerous places to stay.

Fees / permits

Entry to a designated part of the park is chargeable from April 17 to November 14 of the year.

Day tickets cost:

  • Normal: 5 zloty (approx. EUR 1.20)
  • Reduced: 2.50 zloty (approx. EUR 0.60)

  • People who are present for research purposes
  • Schoolchildren and students who visit the park for didactic reasons
  • Residents of the communities in the national park
  • People attending religious places of worship in the park
  • People who are part of an extended family

mobility

You can hike and climb in the park along the hiking trails. There are numerous designated hiking trails. The mountains can be climbed without any climbing knowledge.

Tourist Attractions

  • The main attraction of the park is the Turbacz, at 1310 meters the highest mountain in the Gorce. From here there is a fantastic view over the surroundings to the Tatra Mountains.
