It is divided into 3 micro-regions:

Urban centers
- Aragarças - Its main attraction is that it is bathed by the waters of the majestic Rio Araguaia.
- Aruanã - It is located on the Araguaia River and attracts thousands of tourists, especially in the dry season, from May to August, when extensive sandbanks are formed providing beaches for bathers and swimmers. Sport fishing is widespread in the region.
- Britânia - City mainly based on cattle breeding.
- Goiás - The ancient capital, a historical heritage ofUNESCO.
- Jussara - City with two universities and very active in the cultural sector.
- Luiz Alves - City bathed by the Rio Araguaia, where the soap opera was filmed "Araguaia".
- Matrinchã - Renowned for its festivals such as the Festinchã (Festival de Música and Interpretações de Matrichã) or the "Cowboy" Festival (Festa do Peão).
- Mozarlândia - In the Araguaia River Valley.
- Nova Crixás - Founded in 1980, it takes its name from the river that crosses it.
- Piranhas - One of the most beautiful cities of Goiás, with its festivals and natural attractions including the Salto do São Domingos the second largest in the state.
