Geographical notes

The town is located between the Peloritani mountains in a landscape full of trees and thick vegetation.

Background

The village nestled in the mountains overlooking the antiquity of Tyndaris is Abacaenum, is the archetype of a typical medieval city, with its friendly and welcoming people who speak a distinctive dialect. The city of Novara di Sicilia was inhabited by the Noa until it was under the control of the Normans, who populated the city with the Lombards. The intricate stone road forms a mosaic between the ancient small houses that overlook the shoulder along the mountain, with a breathtaking view of the Aeolian Islands.

How to orient yourself

The town develops mainly along the Via Nazionale which is part of the SS185. The main monuments and the life of the town develops in this artery which is then interspersed with the S. Sebastiano bridge.

There SS185 leads to Novara from both the Tyrrhenian and Ionian sides.

The closest station is that of Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto at Km. 30, from there you have to take an AST bus.

AST bus connections to Messina (2 hours and 35 minutes), Milazzo (1 hour and 35 minutes)
