Background

Church of Santa Maria Bambini
Church of the Assumption

The area was already inhabited in pre-Nuragic and Nuragic times, due to the presence in the territory of some tombs of the giants and some nuraghi.

In the Middle Ages it was part of the Giudicato of Torres, in the curatoria of Monte Acuto. At the fall of the Giudicato (1259) it initially passed under the dominion of the Dorias, and subsequently under the control of the Giudicato of Arborea. Starting from 1350 the whole area passed under the Aragonese dominion. The town was incorporated in the 18th century into the duchy of Monte Acuto, a fief of the Tellez - Giron di Alcantara, from whom it was redeemed in 1839 with the suppression of the feudal system.
