trips
Southwest of Oederan you can reach the village of Hetzdorf via a subordinate road. Anyone interested in railway history should definitely visit the Hetzdorf railway viaduct visit. The 328 m long and 43 m high bridge was built from 1866 for the Dresden – Chemnitz railway line and has worn out over the years. In the end, the bridge could only be driven at 10 km / h, so that in 1986 it was decided to straighten the route and replace the Hetzdorf Viaduct with two new concrete bridges. One crosses one of these concrete bridges before reaching the Hetzdorf Viaduct. Today a hiking trail leads over the old viaduct.
Other destinations in the vicinity are:
- Flea (8 km to the west, B 173) - located on the long-distance railway line from Chemnitz to Dresden; historical cotton mill.
- Augustusburg (14 km southwest, either via Flöha / Erdmannsdorf or via Hohenfichte) - Augustusburg with its castle and motorcycle museum is located above the Zschopau valley and can be reached by funicular from the neighboring village of Erdmannsdorf in the valley.
- Freiberg (15 km northeast, B 173) - the unofficial capital of the Ore Mountains; centuries of silver mining have shaped them.
- Brand-Erbisdorf (16 km east, B 173 to Oberschöna, turn right there) - south of Freiberg, a small town on the "Silberstraße"; late Gothic parish church with a life-size miner from 1585.
- Frankenberg (16 km northwest) - this is where the "Barkas" was built in the GDR. After the "turnaround" and the related cessation of production, the vehicle museum in Frankenberg was set up.
