If you drive the B 173 eastwards towards Freiberg, you come to Falkenau. There you turn in the direction of Hetzdorf and reach the Hetzdorf railway viaduct. The 328 m long and 43 m high bridge was built from 1866 for the Dresden – Chemnitz railway line and has worn out over the years. In the end, the bridge could only be driven at 10 km / h, so that in 1986 it was decided to straighten the route and replace the Hetzdorf Viaduct with two new concrete bridges. One crosses one of these concrete bridges before reaching the Hetzdorf Viaduct. Today a hiking trail leads over the old viaduct.
