Painted Post is a suburb of Corning in Steuben County in the US state new York. The place is part of the Town of Erwin, which also includes the neighboring district Gang Mills belongs. Apart from a small but nice local history museum, a laundrette and a barber, Painted Post has little to offer tourists passing through.

Painted Post has a tiny airfield - the Corning-Painted Post Airport -, which is only used by private pilots.

From Corning you can reach the Painted Post with a regular bus of the local transport company C.E.A.T.S. (Corning-Erwin Area Transit System).

From Interstate Highway 86, you can drive to Painted Post via Exit 43 or 45.

The center of Painted Post, which is only a few dozen streets and has sidewalks almost everywhere, is easy to get around on foot. To get from the center (Village Square) to the business district on the Victory Highway - the distance is 1.5 km - you should be able to walk or have a car. Parking isn't a problem anywhere in Painted Post.

- Painted Post-Erwin Museum at the Depot. The small but fine Painted Post-Erwin Museum at the Depot is located on the corner of High Street and Steuben Street. The museum is housed in a former train station building and has exhibitions on the history of the Painted Post and Gang Mills.Open: Mon - Fri 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., Sat 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.; from September to May by appointment only.Price: Free entry, donations welcome.
- There's one in a tiny park on the corner of N Hamilton Street and W Water Street Bronze statuedepicting a greeting Indian chief in front of the post, from which the place owes its name.
- First Baptist Church, 130 W Water Street. The church of a Baptist congregation built in the neo-baroque style. The Baptists form the single group with the largest number of members within the conservative Protestant denominations in the USA (which are often vaguely referred to as "evangelicals").

- This is 10 minutes north of Painted Post, accessed via Meads Creek Rd Watson Homestead Conference and Retreat Center (9620 Dry Run Road, Painted Post) which is used for a variety of private and public events, many of which are family oriented. You can see, among other things, a historic school building. In September 2015, the Falling Leaves Festival organizes a two-day powwow of the Iroquois people who have traditionally lived in the region and still live today.
- In the northwest of the village are the Crystal Cinemas (94 Victory Highway), a somewhat shabby cinema with mainstream programming. No credit cards.
- If you would like to have a shave, you can contact us Dick’s Barber Shop (85 Victory Highway, in the same building as Rambler's Rest Drive-In).
- Painted Post has a wonderful walkway to walk around. It begins at the Painted Post-Erwin Museum, right next to the old cemetery, and extends from there to the east to the motorway. The intrepid can even continue to Corning through a pedestrian tunnel that runs under the freeway.

- A&A Food Mart, 523 E High Street (corner of John Street). Small grocery store in the extreme southeast of the village, whose main customers are the workers of the immediately neighboring Dressy edge-Works form. Wegmans in is better sorted Corning.

Practical advice
A small tourist information center is located in the Erwin Town Hall (117 W Water Street).
- If you need to wash urgently, you can do so at the Painted Post Laundromat, a small coin launderette on High Street (corner of Imperial Avenue). In addition to a money exchange, detergent and drinks machine, there is also a toilet here.
