the Luberon regional natural park is a regional park in the region Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur shared by the departments of Vaucluse and Alpes de Haute Provence.

Understand

The Luberon regional natural park extends over the Luberon massif (east-west orientation), mountains south of the department of Vaucluse and southwest of Alpes de Haute Provence. This massif is broken down into three parts: the Petit Luberon, to the west, the Grand Luberon, in the center, and the eastern Luberon, to the east. To the north of this massif is the massif of the Vaucluse mountains, of which the Mont Ventoux, and to the south, the region ofAix en Provence], and the Sainte-Victoire mountain.

The park has an area of 185,145 hectares and extends from Cavaillon west to the limit of Verdon regional natural park to the East. The Durance acts as the border between the two regional natural parks. Since December 1997, it has been officially admitted by UNESCO into the World Network of Biosphere Reserves (MAB).

  • The Calavon, to the north, and its many tributaries.
