Geographical notes
Patagonia Argentina is generally a region of wide steppe plains, followed by plateaus that reach about 100 meters in altitude and characterized by a huge expanse of pebbles devoid of vegetation. In the depressions of the plains, ponds or lakes of fresh and brackish water are formed. Towards the Andes the pebbly landscape gives way to rock formations characterized by porphyry, granite and basaltic lavas, animal life becomes more abundant and vegetation more luxuriant.
