Geographical notes

Perdasdefogu is located between theOgliastra southern e Quirra and borders on Escalaplan (UP), Seui (UP), Ulassai is Villaputzu (UP).

Background

The area was already inhabited in the pre-Nuragic and Nuragic periods due to the presence in the territory of some nuraghi and various archaeological remains.

In the Middle Ages it belonged to the Giudicato of Cagliari and was part of the Sarrabus curatoria. At the fall of the Giudicato (1258) it passed under the Pisan dominion and subsequently (1323) under the Aragonese dominion. In 1363 the king of Aragon Peter IV the Ceremonious incorporated the town into the county of Quirra, given as a fief to Berengario Carroz. In 1603 the county was transformed into a marquisate, a feud first of the Centelles and then of the Osorio de la Cueva, to whom it was redeemed in 1839 with the suppression of the feudal system.
