Portuguesa is one of the federated states of Los Llanos in Venezuela.

Geographical notes
It is located in the western part of the country and is bordered to the north by the states of Lara is Trujillo, south with the Barinas, east with the state of Cojedes and to the west with the states of Barinas and Trujillo.
The state is located for the most part in the western plains, 70% of the territory is flat while the remaining 30% is part of the transition zone towards the Andes and reaches 1200 m a.s.l. of altitude.
The state is crossed by many rivers.
