Pajęczno poviat - poviat in Poland in the southern part of the Lodz voivodeship on the northern edge of the Kraków-Wieluń Upland [another name Kraków-Częstochowa Upland], reactivated in 1999 as part of the administrative reform. Its seat is in the city Spider-maninhabited by 6 798 people, i.e. 12.9% of the total population of the poviat.

The Pajęczno district existed from January 1, 1956 in the Łódź Province, i.e. 15 months after the introduction of clusters to replace the existing municipalities (September 29, 1954) as the basic administrative units of the People's Republic of Poland. The Pajęczański Poviat was made up of 29 clusters, which were excluded from the two neighboring poviats in this voivodeship. After the administrative reform in force from June 1, 1975, the territory of the abolished Pajęczno poviat was divided between three newly created voivodeships:

  • Częstochowa
  • Piotrkowskie Voivodeship
  • Sieradz

Compared to the area from 1956, only the area of ​​the former cluster Krzeczów is now on the premises Wieluń County - the rest are in the Pajęczno poviat again.

The poviat currently covers the area of ​​803.77 km², which is 4.4% of the area of ​​the Łódź Voivodeship (18 218.95 km²) and is inhabited by 52 729 inhabitants, which is 2.08% of the entire voivodeship population (2 528 632) and gives a population density of 65 , 58 people / km².

An important element of the county's landscape is the valley Worth it, its bends and meanders, especially the gorge near Działoszyn, as well as springs and springs of karst origin. The tributaries of the Warta in the district are Liswarta with Kocinka, Pisia and Wężnica.
Forest areas cover 27% of the area.
There is a small fragment in the south-western part of the poviat Załęczański Landscape Park and forest nature reserves "Dąbrowa w Niżankowicach" created for the protection of oak forests; "Wet Forest" protecting the natural oak-hornbeam forest with fir; "Murowaniec" where the protection covers the fir forest with an admixture of pine, oak, hornbeam and spruce; as well as an inanimate nature reserve "Snakes"that protects Zelce Mountain (228 m above sea level), limestone Jurassic outlier located on the left bank of the Warta, with caves and other karst forms.
In the Park, we can admire many interesting natural monuments, among others Żabi Pond or Góra Wapiennik, as well as Sucha Struga Valley.
In the entire Pajęczno poviat, nature reserves cover a total of 189 ha, and the areas of protected landscape cover 3640 ha.
An interesting geotourist object in the Łódź region in the Załęczański Landscape Park are the Załęczański Warta Arch belonging to the Natura 2000 area Quarries in Lisowice (coordinates: N51 ° 06'27.70 "E18 ° 50'09.70").
The poviat has a forest and agricultural character. Agricultural lands cover 52% of the total area of ​​the poviat. The agricultural production is dominated by potatoes and grain, also rape and sugar beet. Horseradish production is working very well. There are 50 fruit and vegetable processing plants in the poviat.
The animals are used to raise pigs and domestic cattle.
In the district there are lignite deposits, rich deposits of Upper Jurassic limestones and Quaternary moraine clays, sands and gravels. The deposits of limestone and sand are exploited.
The Cementownia Warta SA from Trębaczew near Działoszyn is known in Poland.
There are over 2,400 business entities registered in the poviat.
National roads and railroads run through the district. Good connections are ensured by: the Śląsk-Ports i railroad national road No. 42 and provincial roads no 483, 486, 491.

The poviat's monuments are mainly sacred and architectural objects and places of historical memory. There are 32 archaeological sites in the poviat.
Numerous hiking trails of the Wieluń Jura, the Załęczański Landscape Park Nature Reserves and the Warta Gorge through the Wieluń Upland have been marked out in the poviat.
