The city Prettin is located on the middle course of the Elbe in the east of the state of Saxony-Anhalt. It's part of the city Annaburg. The Annaburger Heide lies east of the city. Prettin was badly affected by the Elbe floods in 2002.
getting there
Prettin is on the east side of the Elbe and is from Dommitzsch from where the B 182 Wittenberg–Torgau can only be reached by car ferry. There is a fixed road connection to the right of the Elbe from Torgau, Annaburg and Jessen out. The B 187 leads to the latter city from Wittenberg.
mobility
The Elbe ferry Prettin runs Monday to Friday between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 6.30 a.m. to 8 p.m. From October to April the traffic time ends Monday to Friday at 8 p.m. The crossing by car costs 2 €.
Tourist Attractions
The most striking building in the city is the 1 Protestant town church “St. Marien ", already mentioned in the 11th century and rebuilt in the brick Gothic style after a city fire in the 16th century. The church is located between Herrenstrasse and Hohen Strasse. Where both roads meet there is a preserved one City wall tower2 .
The 3 Lichtenburg Castle on the road towards Torgau is due to the meeting of Luther with Friedrich the Wise, Spalatin, Melanchthon and v. Miltitz (1518) and known as the residence of Electress Elisabeth after her flight from Berlin (1528). From 1812 it served as a penal institution; today it houses the Prettin City Museum.

- Dommitzsch (4 km southwest, Elbe ferry) - Dommitzsch is not far from the banks of the Elbe on the eastern edge of the Düben Heath in Saxony; Brick church and former clay works.
- Annaburg (12 km northeast) - small town on the Annaburger Heide; Porcelain factory with factory museum.
- Pretzsch (14 km northwest, via Gehmen or Dommitzsch, both variants using ferries) - downstream, but like Dommitzsch on the left side; Renaissance castle from the 16th century.
- Jessen (15 km north) - historic market square and Jessen Castle.
- Torgau (19 km south, from Zwethau B 87) - Torgau, located upstream, is the next larger town. Hartenfels Castle, once the seat of the Ernestine Wettins; Endless summer open air in August.
