Jessen is on the B 187, which is west of Lutherstadt Wittenberg with the A 9 and east of Jessen on the B 101 Jueterbog–Herzberg ends. who of Leipzig from over Bad Düben arrives, must with Pretzsch use the Elbe ferry as it is between Torgau and Wittenberg is no bridge.

- At the historic market square Parish Church of St. Nicolai with a baroque pulpit altar (1696) by Valentin Kühne, a master wood carver of the North Harz Baroque.
- The Jessen Castle was the headquarters of Blücher, Yorck and Tauentzien in October 1813, a cloth factory in the second half of the 19th century and has been the seat of the city administration since 1999.
