Einruhr

Einruhr is served by bus routes 63 (Schleiden-Simmerath) and 83 (from the main town Simmerath). mobility

  • The connections between the Heimbacher and the rest of the parts are bad, between the worse and simmerather Areas moderate.
  • On the Rursee as well as on the Obersee there is excursion boat traffic by the Rurschifffahrt; but not all year round. Pleasure craft without a motor drive are permitted on the Rursee (there are exceptions), while small boats without a motor drive are permitted on the Heimbach reservoir.
  • There is a good network of cycle paths along the lakes.
  • There are also footpaths, especially at Heimbacher Stausee and Urftsee.

activities

  • water sports:
    • Driving on boats (including surfboards) requires approval from the Eifel-Rur Water Association (WVER), phone: 02421 / 494-1245; the permit cards can be purchased in the neighboring communities Heimbach and Simmerath as in Kreuzau can be acquired. A permit from the WVER is also required to enter the Heimbach reservoir with small boats. Motor boats are not permitted; An auxiliary motor may only be switched on in exceptional cases. In winter the boats are to be removed from the lake. Conditions (fees) must be clarified on site.
    • Swimming is permitted at the Eschauel (Nideggen) lido and - contrary to other publications - is also tolerated in other places, provided that sport boat traffic and Rursee shipping are not hindered.
  • Rurseeschifffahrt
    • During the summer, a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 tours in each direction are between Schwammenauel and Rurberg, with stops in Eschauel, Heimbach-Kermeter and Woffelsbach.
    • On the Obersee between Rurberg and Urststaumauer 3 to 8 tours are offered in the summer time (round trip). There are 4 to 8 tours between Rurberg and Einruhr.
  • Fishing: Conditions (fees) must be clarified on site.
  • Ice sports: Due to the changing water level, reliable ice surfaces can only rarely be expected. Therefore, ice skating is generally not allowed.
  • Cycle touring: RurUfer cycle path (Sections), Rursee-Runde, the other lakes are accompanied by cycle paths on at least one side. Other ways lead to the Kermeter, to the Venn foreland, to the Dreiborn plateau
  • Hiking: hiking trails lead mostly directly along the lakes; other paths lead above the lakes.
  • Nature observation: The Rurseen are suitable for many migratory birds as winter quarters or migration areas; this particularly applies to the Heimbach reservoir. A relatively high biodiversity can be observed all year round: snakes (no poisonous snakes), storks (black stork), wild cats, butterflies

climate

  • The Heimbach reservoir is filled with cold water all year round - especially in the warm season. This radiates to the surroundings of the lake and leads to the formation of haze.
  • The other lakes have a balancing effect on the environment - temperature peaks in both directions are mitigated.
