Sögel is a municipality in the district Emsland in Lower Saxony. It lies in the ridge of the Humpbackwho in Windberg reaches a height of 73 m.

background

Sögel was the seat of the Hümmling district until 1932, which was then merged with the Aschendorf district. Since 1977 it has belonged to the newly formed Emsland district.

The place is especially for that Clemenswerth Castle, one of the main works of the North German Baroque.

By plane

The nearest airports are the Bremen Airport and the Munster Osnabrück Airport.

By train

The closest Deutsche Bahn station is Lathen, which is served by Regional Express trains. From there it is another 15 km to Sögel. The Lathen - Sögel - Werlte line has been closed, but museum rail traffic is planned.

By bus

From Lathen the bus line 931 leads to Sögel and on to Werlte. Meppen is connected by bus line 930, Papenburg with lines 610 and 970.

In the street

From exit 18 Lathen on the A31 autobahn, it is about 22 km to the east via Lathen, where Bundesstrasse 70 crosses. Of Cloppenburg close to the A1 and A29 motorways to the west 32 km, first on the federal road 213 (Europastraße 233), then from Lastrup to the road via Werlte.

  • The main attraction is the baroque one Hunting lodge Clemworth, which is dealt with in a separate article.
  • In the formerly ducal Ludmillenhof the town hall is located today.
  • Bartning emergency church Type D (community center) of the Ev.-luth. Markus parish Sögel, Loruper Weg 4.
  • There is a small one in the incorporated district of Eisten Zoo.
  • Hüvener Mill; Only one still working Wind and water mill Europe
  • Several Stone graves in the neighborhood.
  • Stone graves can usually be reached wonderfully by bike, e.g. the Royal tomb on the country road (K138) south of Sögel between Klein Berßen and Hüven.
  • The disused one runs west of Sögel between Lathen and Dörpen Transrapid test route Emsland.
