Tawau is the third largest city in Sabah Sabah, the malaysian State in the north of the island Borneo. It's a relatively new city that boomed in the early 1980s due to its timber and cocoa economies. Today it is a busy city and the starting point for the islands off the east coast of Borneo, such as Sebatik, Nunukan, Tarakan, Jolo and the Semporna Islands.
