Titisee-Neustadt is a city in Black Forest. The city of Neustadt plays a minor role in terms of tourism.

background

Titisee-Neustadt was created in 1971 through the merger of the municipalities of Titisee (approx. 2,000 inhabitants) and Neustadt in the Black Forest (approx. 8,600 inhabitants), today the city has a total of 6 districts and over 100 hamlets and farms, mostly smaller scattered settlements.

The place Titisee is located on the north shore of the lake. Seestrasse, from the locals too Gold coast called, leads along the lake promenade and further along the Gutach and is the most beautiful shopping street in the area. Titisee is the starting point for hikes and cross-country skiing tours around the lake, according to Hinterzarten, to the Feldberg and Thurner.

Neustadt is about 5 km further east on the Gutach. The small town is rather uninteresting for visitors as there are few sights. Neustadt is due to its central location for the region Black Forest as Sub-center significant. In the east of Neustadt the Gutach valley narrows and becomes increasingly gorge-like. 12-15 km east of Neustadt, the Gutach Valley merges into the Wutach Gorge.
