The Black Forest is a largely forested low mountain range in southern Germany on the eastern side of the Upper Rhine Rift. The highest mountain peaks in the Black Forest can be found there.
Regions
The Upper Black Forest is located in the center of the southern Black Forest, which is often understood to mean the area of the former Upper Black Forest district. The tourist region extends from Breisgau and Markgräflerland in the west to the region Upper Rhine in the east, from Wiesental and Hotzenwald in the south to Elz Valley and Kinzigtal in the North.

- Hell Valley - Narrow valley in the southern Black Forest, one of the continuations of the Dreisamtal in the east.
- Wutach and Gauchach Gorge - Two spectacular gorges on the eastern edge of the Black Forest

- Breitnau - quiet holiday community north of Hinterzarten. In winter, Breitnau is very snow-sure Nordic ski area due to its altitude of 1000 to 1100 m.
- Bernau in the Black Forest - The community includes the valley of the Bernauer Alb and stretches from 800 meters above sea level to the 1415 meter high Herzogenhorn.
- Eisenbach - In the climatic health resort on the German watch route, precision parts are not only produced for the watch industry. The world's first ski lift stood here in 1908.
- Feldberg (Black Forest) - Community consisting of five districts northeast of the Feldberg. The Feldberg belongs to the community
- Lenzkirch - Quiet vacation spot east of Lake Titisee
- Hinterzarten - Well-known health resort in the Black Forest between Freiburg and Titisee
- Höchenschwand - the highest climatic health resort in Germany
- Loeffingen - Small town with a well-preserved old town north of the Wutach Gorge.
- Saint Blasien - Small town with a large domed church
- Sankt Märgen - Monastery community
- Sankt Peter (Black Forest) - Monastery village and climatic health resort
- Titisee-Neustadt - Kneipp spa and winter sports center.
- Todtnau - Small town in a rugged valley south of the Feldberg. The attraction is the 2.9 km long all-weather toboggan run "Hasenhorn-Scoaster" with a height difference of 355 m.
- Dead moss - Located on the southern edge of the Black Forest
