Hinterzarten im Black Forest is mainly known from winter sports. An extensive network of cross-country trails extends around the community. In addition, one of the largest ski jumps in Germany is located in Hinterzarten. The place runs through a high valley, along two roads and offers the traveler numerous hotels, guest houses and holiday homes. Many hiking trails start from Hinterzarten, e.g. B. by the Ravenna Gorge, Direction Titisee-Neustadt and direction FeldbergSome lakes and raised bogs are in the vicinity of the village. In particular, a raised bog begins directly behind the train station and is accessed by a wooden walkway. From there, nature lovers have a view of the constantly damp core area without their feet getting wet.

The 1 Hinterzarten train station is on the route of the Höllentalbahn. Trains run every 30 minutes in the direction Freiburg in Breisgau and Titisee-Neustadt, every 60 minutes after Donaueschingen and Villingen.

In most of the accommodations, the guest receives the Konus guest card, with which they can use local public transport throughout the Black Forest. The area of validity ranges from Basel until after Karlsruhe and from Calw above Rottweil until after Waldshut-Tiengen. In the winter and summer months, a hiking bus runs from the train station via Alpersbach to Rinken. The cone card is not valid there.
