To know
Torno is a Lombard municipality on the Italian-Swiss border. It is located at the southern end of the Lake Como. With its 1,156 inhabitants, it slopes gently along its promontory that juts out into Lake Como, about 7 kilometers from Como, along the provincial road that leads to Bellagio. Whether you arrive on the lake or on the road, you are struck by the beauty of the ancient buildings and houses of the municipality as they perch from the lake shore, culminating in the upper part of the town (the Borgo). He was awarded the orange flag by the Italian Touring Club.

Arriving by (public) boat in Torno, you reach the characteristic harbor on the lake and its open square surrounded by houses, restaurants, hotels, pubs and the facade of the church of Santa Tecla. It winds uphill on alleys and semi-hidden passages and you can visit the Villa Comunale - Villa Zita - (Pro Loco information center) and its surrounding public park. Crossing the provincial road to Bellagio, you can proceed uphill through the medieval labyrinth of stairs, passages, alleys and alleys of the upper part of the municipality (the Borgo), crossing the highway again (downhill this time) in the complex of buildings surrounding the main parish church of San Giovanni with its sanctuary containing the Holy Nail. From San Giovanni there is a path parallel to the lake that leads to the entrance gate of the park that surrounds the famous historic Villa Pliniana (Villa di Plinio).
From Piazza Piazza Enrico Caronti 11, following the red arrows towards the "royal road" and the signs for Molina, Piazzaga / Massi, take the path along a mule track, along which you can admire glimpses of the lake, a Roman stone arch and rich wildlife. You will then come to a stone bridge over a stream. Keeping to the left, head towards the “massi avelli”, erratic boulders where graves have been dug. Then continue on the path to Piazzaga. It's a total of about 30 minutes on foot, and eventually pushes up to the village of Montepiatto with its natural monument: the Pietra Pendula - the Suspended Stone.
