There Val Fiscalina (Fischleintal in German) is a valley of the Trentino Alto Adige.
To know
It is a 4.5 km long side valley that branches off from Sixth south in the Sesto Dolomites, in the easternmost part ofSouth TyrolIt extends entirely from the district of Moso Sesto al Talschlusshütte via Fischleinboden with the large car park of the same name and the bus turning point for the Kreuzbergpass-San Candido / Dobbiaco bus. The valley, which tapers towards the end, is well developed through trails, restaurants and accommodation facilities. Behind the Fischleinboden, the paved road is replaced by unpaved but easy to walk paths.
The valley is internationally known for its scenic beauty and leads into Tre Cime Natural Park, beyond some peaks of the Sesto Sundial. Behind the Talschlusshütte (1,548 m) lies a rift at the foot of the Einserkofel in the Bachern and Altenstein valley, which climbs up against the Drei Zinnen and the Paternkofel, which was severely contested during the First World War. The Val Fiscalina is often covered on foot during the ascents to the Dreizinnen refuge on the Toblinger Riedel and to the Zsigmondy refuge in the Bachern valley.
The Val Fiscalina flows into the Fischleinbach, which flows into the Sextner Bach, a source of the Drau, in the Moso district of Sesto.
Geographical notes
The valley is one of the main access points to Tre Cime Natural Park, which in turn contains many of the most famous peaks of the Sesto Dolomites, including: the Croda Rossa di Sesto, the Crode Fiscaline and the Cima dei Tre Scarperi, the Three peaks of Lavaredo, the Croda dei Toni, the Top Eleven and others.
Background
The Fischlein valley, like the high alpine valley of the San Candido monastery, has been documented since the 10th century under the later Germanic name "Uiscalina".
On the morning of 12 October 2007, some 60,000 cubic meters of rock and gravel fell from Einserkofel (2,698m) into the rear of the valley. No people were injured, 30 vacationers were rescued unharmed. The fall of the rock buried much of a parking lot under rubble and caused the Fischleinbach to overflow. The landslide is attributed to the explosive force of the water freezing in the cracks due to the previous violent changes in temperature.

How to get
By plane
The nearest airports are those of Bolzano and those of Innsbruck, each about an hour's drive. Other airports are at Verona is Munich (about 3 - 3.5 hours by car).
By car
- Autostrada del Brennero A22 (toll): until the exit for Bressanone / Vahrn (Val Pusteria), then on the Pustertalsstraße (state road SS49-E66) in Alta Pusteria (distance from the Bressanone / Val Pusteria motorway exit about 60 km).
- Via Felbertauern e Lienz in East Tyrol, on the state road (B100-E66) in Alta Pusteria e San Candido.
On the train
The railway station of San Candido it is located on the Val Pusteria railway (San Candido - Franzensfeste) and on the "Drautalbahn Franzensfeste" - Brunico - San Candido - Lienz (Austria / East Tyrol).
The San Candido train station is also located on the main axis Innsbruck - Lienz - Vienna and offers daily train connections from Rome.
The Franzensfeste railway station is connected to the Brenner line (Munich - Innsbruck - Brenner - Bolzano) with IC connections.
Lienz station is the terminus of the "Drautalbahn" and the most important station in East Tyrol.
By bus
There are daily bus connections between San Candido and Trieste.
How to get around
By car
The access road to the valley stops shortly after the village of Moso (Moos), fraction of Sixth, precisely at the parking lot located near the 1 Dolomitenhof hotel , at an altitude of 1,454 meters above sea level There is a large parking lot nearby.

- Cross country skiing. At an altitude of 1,454 m. starts the ring that reaches the end of the valley (1548 m). The track is connected to the one that goes up from San Candido passing through San Vito and Moso (Sesto).
