There Val di Fassa is a valley of the Trentino Alto Adige. It originated, like the Val di Fiemme and the Val di Cembra from the Avisio stream, which originates from the Marmolada glacier and ends near Lavis.

Geographical notes
The valley is surrounded by some of the most important massifs of the Dolomites: the Pale Mountains, the Marmolada, the Sella Group, the Sassolungo, the Catinaccio Group, but also by mountains with non-dolomitic lithology such as the Buffaure and the Monzoni.
When to go
The climate undergoes, as in many Alpine valleys, a strong change with the change of season. Summer is usually quite hot, while winter can come in many different ways, sometimes it is very hot and other times it can be very cold. The first snow usually falls on the valley around the end of November.
Spoken languages
It is the only Trentino valley (together with the Gardena and Badia valleys in Alto Adige and the Livinallongo valley and part of the Ampezzo valley in Veneto), where the Ladin language (more precisely the Dolomite Ladin) is still spoken.

The ski centers of the valley are part of the consortium Dolomiti Superski, one of the most important Italian Alpine ski areas which includes numerous ski slopes in the Dolomites, extended, as well as in the province of Trento also in those of Bolzano is Belluno for a total of 1220 km.
The ski areas of the valley are, from south to north, the following:
- Three Valleys At Moena and the San Pellegrino Pass.
- Catinaccio-Rosengarten, at Vigo di Fassa is Pear of Fassa.
- Buffaure, At Pozza di Fassa, then connected to the Ciampac of Alba di Canazei.
- Belvedere /Col Rodella of Canazei/Campitello, of considerable size, connected with the Val Gardena and Arabba-Marmolada (BL). From here you can take part in the tour of the Dolomites Sella Group, called the Sellaronda.
Nearby is also located Falcade.
How to get
By car
The Val di Fassa is connected to the other Dolomite valleys through numerous passes: the San Pellegrino Pass connects Moena with the Bios Valley (BL) the Costalunga Pass connects Vigo with the Val d'Ega (Alto Adige), while from Canazei it is possible reach Livinallongo (BL) via the Pordoi Pass and Val Gardena (BZ) via the Sella Pass.

How to get around
By bus
The valley is constantly crossed by the Trentino Trasporti buses. One or more stops are present in each country. Through these buses it is also possible to easily reach all the centers of the Val di Fiemme as well as the provincial capital, Trento.

There are many possibilities for tourists, both in summer and in winter. During the summer it is possible to take advantage of the provided playgrounds in the villages of the valley.In winter, the main activity is alpine skiing, but there are other possibilities. Cross-country skiing is however quite common, ski mountaineering, snow tubing (snow dinghies) are all easily achievable activities in the valley.
Itineraries
During the summer it is possible to walk along one of the many roads that cross the woods of the valley, or even go walking at high altitude.
Events and parties
- Great party at d'Jstà: Event that takes place on the last weekend of August a Canazei (so that the party ends on the first Sunday of September). It is known by all as the festival of the Ladin people. In fact, during the event, precisely on Sunday afternoon, folk groups from all the Ladin valleys converge in Canazei to parade along the streets of the town with their typical costumes. The whole weekend is enlivened by folk music and typical dishes of the area.
What to do
As for the evening entertainment, there is no shortage of breweries, pubs and discos, located almost everywhere in the small villages of the valley, but still concentrated more in the major centers: Canazei, Pozza and Moena.

The Val di Fassa is full of hotels, B & Bs, campsites, sports facilities, cycle paths that have allowed the valley's great tourist development.
