The autonomous Valencia region (officially Valencian. Comunitat Valenciana, span. Comunidad Valenciana) lies in the east Spain.

The main spoken in Valencia is Castilian. Most of the residents speak Valencian among themselves. Road signs do not always start with the Castilian name and below that the Valencian name, here it happens more and more that the Valencian name is mentioned first or even only. Valencian residents have no problem speaking to tourists in Castilian.

- Fallas. The Fallas are spring festivals, they take place in numerous parishes from March 15th to 19th. A falla is a large doll made of wood or paper mache, it is made by a neighborhood or an association. The Fallas are burned on the night of March 19-20.
- Tomatina. The Tomatina takes place on the Wednesday of the last week of August in Buñol instead of. At the festival there is a battle with overripe tomatoes in the streets. More than 40,000 people from all over the world take part.

Rice from the Valencia region has a long tradition and is famous in Spain, cultivation introduced by the Moors in the 8th century. Since then, the Albufera Valenciana area has been an important growing region in Spain. The grain is very short and unmistakably white, which is due to the high starch content. The sorts Bahía, Sénia and Bomba are protected by designation of origin. All sales packaging must be identified by a numbered label issued by the Standardization Council.

Valencia is just as safe as any other popular travel city. You can walk through the streets (even at night) without fear of bad things. However, beware of pickpockets in the high season (March, June to August). These like to strike in crowded places. Handbags should always be closed and carried at the front. Backpacks should be avoided as they can be easily opened from the back. It is not uncommon for bold pickpockets to steal cell phones from their hands and disappear into the crowd.
