The Province of Castellón(Valencian: Castelló) lies in the autonomous region Valencia. Southern neighboring province is Valencia, it also borders on the Catalonian province Tarragona, to the Teruel Province in Aragon as well as to the Mediterranean, its coast is under the name Costa del Azahar known.

Castelló is one of the most mountainous provinces in the country. About 30% of its 600,000 inhabitants live in the capital, the majority live in the coastal towns of the Costa del Azahar, and the hinterland is sparsely populated. The archipelago lies off the coast Islas Columbretes.

Valltorta: prehistoric painting
- Tirig is a small village in the comarca l'Alt Maestrat. In his vicinity is the Barranco de la Valltorta. There are several rock overhangs on the edges of the gorge, too Abri called. The most famous of these is the cave 1 Cova dels Cavalls(Cueva de los Caballos), it is one of the most important cave painting sites in Spain. In the immediate vicinity there are several more of these caves, which are part of the UNESCO World Heritage.
