Location of the province of Guadalajara in Spain

General

The province lies between the mountain range Sierra de Ayllón in the northwest and the mountains on the upper reaches of the Tagus in the southeast. In between lies the agriculturally used plateau of the Iberian Meseta. Most of the province belongs to the upper reaches of the Tagus and its tributaries Jarama and Henares.

Around 260,000 people live in the province, around one in three lives in the capital Guadalajara.

  • The Sierra Norte de Guadalajara Natural Park in the northeast lies largely in the Sierra de Ayllón, its highest peak is the Pico del Lobo with 2272 m.
