Location of the province of Tarragona in Spain

Regions

The province borders the Catalonian provinces in the north Barcelona and Lleida. The region lies in the west Aragon with the provinces Zaragoza and Teruel, in the south is the zur Valencia region belonging province Castellón. To the east the province borders the Mediterranean Sea, the coastal region is known as the Costa Daurada.

The northeast of the province is that Camp de Tarragona or short el camp, the area in the southwest of the province are the Terres de l'Ebre , the land on the lower reaches of the Ebro River. The area along the coast is relatively flat, but most of it can only be used for agriculture with irrigation. Hazelnuts and almonds, among other things, are grown. In the interior of the country, the coastal mountains rise to an altitude of over 1000 m, and numerous caves can be found in the karst landscape.

Monestir de Santa Maria de Poblet
