The province Lugo lies in the spanish region Galicia. It borders the region Asturias, to the provinces Leon, Ourense, Pontevedra and A Coruña. In the north it borders on the Atlantic ocean

Regions
Lugo is the largest province of Galicia. Its coastline Rías Altas is rugged and has some spectacular sections such as the rock formations Las Catedrales between San Cosme and Ribadeo. The hinterland reaches heights of around 600 m, just enough that the rain clouds regularly get caught and rain down. To the east is the Sierra de los Ancares, it reaches heights of 2000 m. The most important river is the Rio Miño, which leads to the province in the southwest Ourense flows and on its banks the wine-growing area Ribeira Sacra lies.
About 350,000 people live in the province.

Other goals
The Way of St. James leads with its main route Camino Francés through the province of Lugo. Well-known stations on the way to Santiago de Compostela are O Cebreiro (144 km), Sarria (107.5 km), Portomarín (86.5 km) and Palas de Rei (62 km). There are numerous hostels and restaurants along the way.

- In some places along the coast there are houses known as casa de indianos are designated. They were built by people who had emigrated to America, who became prosperous there, and who built elaborate houses after their return, such as the one Torre dos Morenos in Ribadeo
- In the interior of the country one can still find thatched round houses, called Palloza, so in the village Pedrafita do Cebreiro in the southeast of the province. There are similar houses of the originally Celtic inhabitants in other parts of the country under the name Teito
